André Rieu and Rowwen Hèze are participating in the fundraiser which Omroep MAX will
present on Wednesday 18 August for the victims of the flooding in Limburg.
On 18 August, moneys will be raised during three special live broadcasts, presented by Dionne Stax and
Jan Slagter. In the evening, the talkshow “Op1” will also bring attention to the action.
According to Slagter, many Limburgers are still "pulling their hair out" and in urgent need of help. "MAX is
happy to do its part, in the form of this national fundraiser. I call on everyone, including businesses, to
donate on Wednesday, August 18th. If possible, of course. It can be a large or small amount. Does not
matter. After all, every little bit helps," he says.
The broadcasts will be aired from the Theodoor Dorrenplein in Valkenburg, which was badly affected by the
floods. Besides local residents, well-known Limburgers such as André Rieu and Rowwen Hèze will also be
present. There will also be appearances by Huub Stapel, Lilianne Ploumen and André van Duin.
At the end of last month, the amount for the Giro 777 fundraiser for Limburg stood at 10 million Euros. In
total 190,000 contributers transferred money. The National Disaster Fund started the action on 16 July
after heavy rains and high tides caused major problems in the province of Limburg.
On August 18, a fund-raising campaign on TV raised an amount of 2 million Euros for the victims of the
Limburg flooding. Emma Kok (Violinist Enzo Kok’s sister) sang the song Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen,
together with the Maastrichter Staar (male choir). André was a guest at the table. No additional news. He
spoke about what he already had said in earlier interviews. So we decided not to post it again. We had
secretly hoped for a little performance by maybe the Maastricht Salon Orchestra…..
On August 25, 2021, The Limburg TV L1, will also organize a fund-raising event.
More than € 100,000 has been collected with the benefit concert “Limburg oet de drup” from yesterday in
Valkenburg. Artists performed there selflessly for charity, including Beppie Kraft (singer), Ziesjoem (pop
group) and DJ duo Lucas & Steve, to help the victims of the flooding of mid-July 2021.
Emma Kok, 13 years old, won the
Voice Kids competition 2021.
