Janet Wakeman on March 31, 2020 on Facebook: It is with great sadness that I have to tell you that Mum (Dot) died yesterday evening (March 30, 2020) after several weeks of declining health. We were hoping that she would make her 100th birthday next January but alas it was not to be. This was one of her favorite pictures taken at Andre Rieu’s last concert at Wembley.

Our sincere condolences go to Janet and the family. Janet and Dot traveled many years to Maastricht to attend the André Rieu concerts. The picture with the orange garlands was made at the fan dinner in July 2013, the year that Holland had inaugurated the new King Willem-Alexander. Dot was a lovely lady, always up for a good laugh. It’s more sad that currently (Corona virus) no one can have funerals of their choice. We wish Janet and family much strength to bear the loss. May she rest in peace.

From her obitury: Margaret, who liked to be called Maggie, was born in Kansas City, MO, USA. Maggie was an accomplished writer who won multiple awards for her poetry in addition to the several short stories and novels she authored. She was also an artist who enjoyed working with sketches in pencil and was highly skilled in quilt making. But, perhaps her greatest artistic love was music. She loved playing the piano and composed several of her own pieces. She was particularly fond of Dutch conductor and violinist, André Rieu, and traveled several years (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009) to The Netherlands, to see the performances. Maggie had five children, nine grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. May she rest in peace. Our condolences go to the family.

In 2005 and 2006 Maggie attended the Maastricht concerts but she also visited a lot of fan friends from the Netherlands. She created a few wonderful quilts, and gave them away to André and to some more friends. We will cherish our memories. In the picture: Janny, Monique and Maggie at Janny’s house. Janny van Wingerden-Molenaar: R.I.P. Maggie. 15 years ago you where visiting my husband Wim and me for 10 days in our hometown Hendrik Ido Ambacht. Met André, visiting Maastricht, and sightseeing The Netherlands. I will never forget that special time.

These pictures are from 2007, the big premiere of the Schönbrunn castle and Christmas concert in the Rogers Stadium in Toronto, Canada. A never to be forgotten concert where we almost snowed in with André and the Johann Strauss orchestra in the same hotel. (In the photos from left to right: Ineke, Bobbie, John, Maggie. Sue Berry: I am so sad to hear this and she passed on my Birthday. I can tell you though, she called me last about two years ago and was very happy. She was living in an assisted living home right next to her sister and loved it. While we were talking I heard a cat meowing and asked her if she had a cat. She laughed and said, no she didn't need to. It was her sisters cat and she kept her door open because the cat came over to visit her all the time during the day. She loved being with her sister and was happy ..... That's how I will remember her. I don't know if you knew ... but some years back she was writing a fictional novel about Andre. She would send me a few chapters at a time as she was writing. It was almost done, but I don't know for sure if she ever finished it. It was good! I used to look forward so much for new chapters to arrive in my email!! She will be missed.

Sonja Harper: Very sad to lose another André friend. I too spoke to her a year or so ago. She had moved back to Joplin and sounded happy to be close to her sister and her old home. The book she was writing was indeed very good, lots of fun to read. She made me the same quilt as she made for André, she was a very accomplished lady in so many ways and she will be missed.
