Documentary about the special bond which violinist André Rieu has with the Dutch royal family. The documentary “Rieu & De Oranjes” (Family name of the Dutch Royal Family) consists of a compilation of concert pieces which Rieu has played for the royal family over the years, interspersed with the violinist's personal memories of those meetings. We have to admit that this documentary really touched us. André’s words could have been our words and thoughts. On April 30, 2013, which was Queen Beatrix’ 75th birthday, Abdication Day, and at the same time the inauguration of our new King and Queen, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima. Ruud and Ineke were in Amsterdam and there were festivities all over. It was a day never to forget. Freezing cold, but heart warming.
