Love for Detail Exhibition at the Museum on the Vrijthof
From July until September 2015, the Museum on the Vrijthof will be hosting an exhibition about what takes place behind the scenes in the Rieu company. The costume department, beautiful dresses, jewelry, other objects and a luthier at work, will be featured.
It was wonderful to read that André provided the designs for several of the most memorable dresses: Suzan’s Sissi gown, Carla’s 2014 Tudor style dress, as well as other spectacular dresses.
I tried a beautiful pink dress.
Here you can also learn how to waltz, by following the footsteps on the floor. Wonderful waltz music was playing in this hall. It really felt like a royal ball room.
André’s famous red couch to take power naps just before the concert. This one was a little bit unstable.
A documentary was shown about father Martin Rijsemus and his son Niels, luthiers from Maastricht. They were at work in the museum, creating a new violin. It was very interesting to talk to them and to see them at work.
We have enjoyed our two-hour visit to the exhibition very much. Afterwards it was wonderful to have a coffee in the Museum’s café: “Soiron”. Of course with the Limburg delicacy “Vlaai”. In my case: cherry vlaai. Mmmmm!
There is much more to see at the exhibition than we can show you here, so it is definitely worthwhile to visit the Museum at the Vrijthof. The exhibition runs until September 2015. The museum is closed on Monday.
